Dear Hoosac Valley High School Students and Families,

WELCOME BACK!  As we embark on the 2021-2022 school year, we do so with perseverance, respect, integrity, diversity, and empathy at the forefront of our work to “increase cultural awareness, sensitivity, and responsiveness by evaluating and respecting individual differences and fostering innovation and positive outcomes” for our students, staff, and stakeholders.  We are excited to welcome you back to a “normal” school year, and we hope you’ll notice our continued commitment to creating a safe, supportive learning environment for ALL.

There are many new beginnings to celebrate as we look forward to welcoming you back for a half-day on Wednesday, September 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.  Our doors at the high school open at 7:15 a.m.

As noted the first day of school will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021.  This first day is a half day for students (7:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.).  Our doors open daily at 7:15 a.m. and again this year, there is NO MORE homeroom.

Our days will start at 7:30 a.m. with Period 1 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), and on Wednesdays all students will begin their day with their advisory teacher at 7:30 a.m.  Daily attendance will be taken promptly at 7:30 a.m.  We are back to our standard 7-Period day (with the built-in advisory once a week).  Similar to last year, the objective of the advisory is to promote and grow meaningful relationships between staff and students, while providing social-emotional and academic support as well.

Interested in a tour of the school?  Would you like to see where your classes will be held?  Upperclassmen will offer tours of the school on Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to Noon and again from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on both days!  Stop up to take a tour; bring your schedule with you!

For those of you riding the bus, routes will be available on the school district’s website and on our Facebook page the week of August 16-20.

Once again, we are lucky enough to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students, and students are always welcome to purchase items from the cafeteria in addition to what’s being served on any particular day.

Most of our school’s policies and procedures for this year can be found in our Student Handbook.  An electronic version is available on the school’s website under the Parents and Students' tab.

We are looking forward to a rewarding school year, and we are excited to welcome you back.  Until then, please enjoy what remains of the summer, including plenty of rest and relaxation and time with family and friends.

    Principal Byrd

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how he or she is doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our district and school is doing in different areas. Access the links to the district and the schools’ report cards by click HERE.

On April 27, 2020 the Hoosac Valley Regional School Committee voted to participate in the Commonwealth’s School Choice program for the 2020-2021 school year. Twenty-eight (28) Massachusetts students living outside of Adams-Cheshire will be allowed to enroll in the Hoosac Valley Regional School District for the 2020-2021 school year.  CLICK HERE to print the form.
